Chris's Proposal to Kate

We stayed in Blowing Rock in the middle of a rare North Carolina snowstorm. I convinced my girlfriend at the time Kate Davis Ballance, to hike through ice & snow to the base of Linville Falls because I "wanted to take a photo." I gave her the camera to "try some test shots" while I popped open my camera bag, dropped to one knee, and pulled out the ring. "Be my wife?" was the question and "Yes" was the answer. The material is one of my first business cards from Simtek, a textile engineering startup I worked at in college.
